President Trump announced today that the federal government has issued a waiver on standardized testing for students across the country. This is in response to concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19. Cases of which had spiked overnight between Thursday March 19th and Friday, March 20th.
Multiple state officials had previously taken action to curtail the spread of the virus among students by issuing their own restrictions on carpooling and allowing only a limited amount of interaction between parents and school faculty. Whereas states like Colorado have only recently announced closures.
Other states like Louisiana have already issued month-long closures and other social programs, like issuing free lunches, to help combat the spread.
